Ethics of Treating Minors in Therapy

Ethics of Treating Minors in TherapyMany college students pursue their college papers on ethics of treating minors in therapy. Many assume that these students must be understanding and mature, even though it's debatable whether a high school student can really speak on the subject matter adequately, much less effectively. In truth, a high school student might grasp some of the basics, yet there's no doubt that many can't think through their views well enough to see the importance of the matter at hand. There are so many issues involved with a student who feels that being treated by a therapist is not something that should be considered normal. And if they choose not to seek treatment, the person may find himself in dire straights. The high school student should consider these things when writing an essay on ethics of treating minors in therapy. Treating minors is a very important issue, because it is the fact that the patient will feel better and perform better that makes the differenc e. While one can't tell a grown man whether he should stay in the closet or get out because some have considered it abnormal for him to stay in, there is a difference between normal and abnormal. It can also be considered a form of abuse when a parent or a group of friends force a child to participate in this because it benefits them in some way. Such individuals may need to learn how to live without their own dependency on drugs and alcohol. They will, however, learn that drug and alcohol addiction is like any other addiction.Unfortunately, too many students want to write papers on ethics of treating minors in therapy for the comfort of the teachers themselves. Though it is understandable, students may be afraid to ask the question, so they just write down that the therapist should do what's best for the client. There are various studies that show that when a person feels inadequate about himself, he will put others down so he won't feel as if he's inadequate in his own eyes. This me ans that a graduate student in philosophy should write a paper on ethics of treating minors in therapy, but not because he's embarrassed to ask a question or because he has this sadistic idea of harming an in-patient. The fact that this is a human being asking these questions shows that many of them are adults who don't deserve to be treated that way. All they're doing is trying to achieve the best of their abilities, which they believe they are capable of achieving.Children are not human beings, and therefore there's no reason to treat them that way. They are capable of living out their lives to the fullest, regardless of whether the focus is on drugs or alcohol. It's only their own fear of shame that prevents them from accepting their capabilities.High school students should be encouraged to think for themselves, and ask questions of themselves instead of simply memorizing what others say. If someone doesn't know that another person smokes, then they can askwhy they don't see it, and how it affects them. The key is to engage in the very process of thinking, and that's precisely why those who wish to be college professors don't have to worry about whether they'll come across too normal.

The Invisible Man Analyzing The Grandfather’S Curse....

The Invisible Man: Analyzing the Grandfather’s Curse Throughout all of the history of the United States of America, race has been a prevailing issue. Although the ways in which racism presented itself has changed, the prevalence of the problem has not. Ralph Ellison’s The Invisible Man does an excellent job of allowing some insight into the way racism has and still does impact the life and self identity of affected individuals. In this book, the narrator is faced with the challenges that come with being an African American in mid 1900s. The struggle first becomes something the narrator is aware of when his grandfather utters some troubling advice on his deathbed. He said in order to succeed in a white man’s world, you have to†¦show more content†¦He is forced to fight at this â€Å"battle royale† as he calls it, and with a mouthful of blood delivers his speech. As he is coughing on his own blood, he accidentally switches the words â€Å"social responsibility† with â€Å"social equality,† infu riating the white men there. He hastily insists it was a mistake, and after all of that, he receives a scholarship to go to a black college. He rushes home so proud, and stands in front of his grandfather’s portrait, feeling triumphant (Ellison, 30-33). He followed his grandfather’s advice of doing as he was told, but at that point has yet to realizes why that makes him a traitor. As he is faced with more challenges and more racism the narrator begins to understand why simply doing what is wanted of him to get ahead is traitorous. At his college, the President is a black man named Dr. Bledsoe. This man has used servility to get ahead in life, and when faced with the narrator, rather than attempting to help another black man succeed, he purposely squanders his chances of success. At this point, the narrator begins to understand what it means to be a traitor to your race. After being sent away from school and sabotaged by Dr. Bledsoe, his perspective on people, racism, a nd his own identity begins to shift. In the second half of the book, the narrator loses his optimism and naivety and in place finds anger, frustration, and passion. Eventually the narrator ends up joining a social equality movement called the

Saint Essay Example For Students

Saint Essay Francis LifeSt. Franciss life began as any other man of his time. He was a wealthyindividual who was preoccupied with material comforts. This preoccupation alsoled him to fear the poor, especially lepers. St. Francis then entered into aconversion that led him to be an alter Christus. He gave up all his materialpossessions and embraced poverty and welcomed the poor and needy into his lifewith open arms. he ignored the ridicule he received from both his family and hispeers and entered this new way of life and became dedicated to helping people inneed. St. Franciss conversion began after he had been imprisoned for a yearin a foreign country. He returns home and falls ill and is bedridden for anotheryear. He then sets out for another war, but is called home by the beckoning ofGod. His conversion is gradual as he begins slowly working with the poor and thelepers. Francis eventually becomes estranged from his family and is broughtbefore the Bishop of Assisi by his father. Here Francis publ icly renounces hisinheritance, strips his clothes, and begins his journey in search of GodsKingdom. Francis is ridiculed by his friends and his peers, but he endures thehumiliation and continues his work with the poor. Now Francis begins to imitateJesus and begins preaching, this leads to many men following Francis andcreation the Franciscan Order. These men went throughout the cities andcountryside helping the poor and rebuilding the church both physically andspiritually. For the rest of Franciss life he spread the word of God, and inhis death he received the great honor of Sainthood. St. Francis not only touchedthe lives of people in his own time, but he also touched the next generationwith his teachings he has left behind. The mere mention of St. Franciss namebrings to mind poverty. This is a man who gave up all his worldly possessionsand joined the beggars in the streets. St. Franciss reasoning for doing thewas to become closer to God and his kingdom. Franciss relationship to po vertycan be defined by these lines, holy poverty stands high above all the virtuesthat prepare in us a dwelling place for God (Sacrum Commercium). It alsostates that, blessed are the poor in spirit, Jesus said, for theirs isthe kingdom of Heaven. As Francis interprets the Bible, God enters your lifeonly when you are poor in spirit, and when this occurs the kingdom of Heaven ismade available to you. St. Francis and his followers took these words to heartand lived every day of their lives following these lessons. Becoming closer toGod was the sole reason for Franciss vow of poverty. Accompanying this vow healso believed he had the solution to war. St. Francis taught his followers thatif they had possessions that they would need arms to defend them. He believedthat possessions led to violence, hatred, and war. Individuals self worth is tooften measured by how money they possess of what possessions they have. Withoutpossessions mankind would all be on equal footing and there for less pr oblemswould exist. Today reality shows us that such a way of living is not possible. In todays world, instead of flaunting our wealth, we can share and try not tomeasure people to these standards. When one brings these teachings into thetwentieth century it is hard to imagine actually following them as St. Francisdid. When I think of myself and all the materials that we possess; givingeverything up is not an option. We are a selfish human race as a whole, and wethrive on buying the newest technology and latest fashions. Giving our time byvolunteering and giving to various charities are two small ways we, even ascollege students, can make a difference. It may not appear to be as radical asSt. Franciss conversion but if everyone contributes in a small way it willmake a world of difference. .u3b4ea5f015c163a9074ade5e7fc41018 , .u3b4ea5f015c163a9074ade5e7fc41018 .postImageUrl , .u3b4ea5f015c163a9074ade5e7fc41018 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u3b4ea5f015c163a9074ade5e7fc41018 , .u3b4ea5f015c163a9074ade5e7fc41018:hover , .u3b4ea5f015c163a9074ade5e7fc41018:visited , .u3b4ea5f015c163a9074ade5e7fc41018:active { border:0!important; } .u3b4ea5f015c163a9074ade5e7fc41018 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u3b4ea5f015c163a9074ade5e7fc41018 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u3b4ea5f015c163a9074ade5e7fc41018:active , .u3b4ea5f015c163a9074ade5e7fc41018:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u3b4ea5f015c163a9074ade5e7fc41018 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u3b4ea5f015c163a9074ade5e7fc41018 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u3b4ea5f015c163a9074ade5e7fc41018 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u3b4ea5f015c163a9074ade5e7fc41018 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u3b4ea5f015c163a9074ade5e7fc41018:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u3b4ea5f015c163a9074ade5e7fc41018 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u3b4ea5f015c163a9074ade5e7fc41018 .u3b4ea5f015c163a9074ade5e7fc41018-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u3b4ea5f015c163a9074ade5e7fc41018:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: The Metamorphosis: Gregor Was An Unselfish Person EssayReligion

Job Analysis

Job analysis refers to the process of identifying, recording and analyzing the aspects of a particular job to establish the specific requirements for performance of the job.Advertising We will write a custom report sample on Job Analysis specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More When carrying out job analysis there are three important areas for examination: duties and tasks define the specific roles played by the employee when performing the job while job environment refers to the conditions prevalent in the place where the particular job is carried out. Finally, tools and equipments are required for effective performance. Job analysis is an important aspect in hiring process for several reasons; it helps in documenting vital information about the job, which then helps in determining the appropriate methods of doing the job, then it helps the human resources in job designing (duties and responsibilities) and determination of rewards for th e jobholders (Fine Cronshaw 1999, p.147). Furthermore, it helps in designing effective performance evaluation and measurement systems with which the human resources can rely in making promotions. How to recruit a suitable pool of Applicants The need to recruit a suitable pool of applicants cannot be overemphasized. Placing and assigning roles to suitably qualified personnel is important because the employees consistently deliver on expectations and help in creating value to the organization. These key benefits come about because the employee qualifications marry with the roles played which then precipitates several strong points viz. happy, motivated and productive employees; collaborative team participation which brings out individual strengths and enhanced customer satisfaction which in turn gives the organization a good standing in the public domain. Managing an effective recruitment process There are four key stages in the recruitment process that when followed will increase th e chances of picking the best and suitable applicants for a job. The first step entails information search, analysis, planning, and definition. The second stage focuses on how to attract candidates with the desired qualifications. At this stage, the recruiting manager must determine the tools and techniques to be used to get the best results. As such, the personnel should determine the right people who shoul d be involved in management of the process, for instance consultants and define the communication tools that will enable one to reach as many candidates. This will require determination of the appropriate selection criteria. This can be done through interviews oral or w ritten, biodata, and/or tests. In conducting the interviews, managers should involve the relevant personnel e.g. the intermediate managers, experts in the field of the job, and the people who will make the final hiring decisions. The interview questions should be then generated and the anticipated responses stipulated. The overall challenge at this level is maintaining objectivity; however, with a good selection framework the challenges can be reduced greatly.Advertising We will write a custom report sample on Job Analysis specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Biodata is another recruitment tool which as been widely regarded as effective and reliable. This is for the reason that it can predict accurately the future performance of an employee based on empirical methods. Biodata uses a designed form seeking detailed information about the history of the applicants. The final stages focuses on how to bring in the recruited candidates and then offer them support for the initial period in the organization. This will entail working on the internal processes in preparation fro the new employee. The activities carried would include necessary documentation, designing of the reward packages, designing a smooth transition process, putting in place a support system for a period of 3-6 moths and setting the performance objectives. A successful recruitment process is pegged on the level of job definition. The suitable candidates should posses the right skill and knowledge and perfectly fit in their roles and contribute significantly to the overall organization goals. The organization in turn should be able to provide development opportunities to continue optimizing the contributions from their employees. Maximizing chances for employee success Having selected the best job candidates and consequently appointed them to the respective offices, the human resources management’s duty does not end there. Job performance is a f unction of the worker input and the environmental factors. Ripley notes, â€Å"If good performers are put in bad systems, the systems win every time† (1999, p.2). Therefore, management should design and maintain user-friendly working conditions to enhance employee productivity. Gilbert (1999) developed a diagnostic tool called the Behavior Engineering Model (BEM): a model that explains employee performance enhancement through six areas including â€Å"information, resources, incentives, knowledge, capacity and motivation† (p.36). The six areas were grouped into two main factors viz. system and person factors. Information resources and incentives were categorized as system factors whereas skill and knowledge, capacity and motivation represent personal factors. Information relating to the output expectations needs to be relayed continuously to the worker as well as giving feedback to allow self-evaluation.Advertising Looking for report on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Other key information that the worker should be aware of is the organization policies and the standard operating procedures. This can be easily availed to the new employees through orientation. Resources refer to all the tool and equipment to allow the worker to perform his/her duties effectively. Incentives refer to the ability of the system or the work environment to offer attractiveness to motivate performance. System incentives could refer to the ability of the system to offer challenges, development opportunities, and put trust on the workers, for instance by delegation of duty by the manager on his subordinates. Relevant skills and knowledge are critical to performance. Most organizations today are differentiated and use highly customized applications and hence there’s need that the recruited staff be taken through some training in order to synchronize their skills and knowledge. Motivation is pegged on both internal (personal) and external (system) factors. Whereas it is not easy for the company to control its internal factors, it is possible to adjust environmental conditions to turn on the worker. Further, to enhance employee productivity, the human resources must offer attractive compensation packaged with other benefits in pursuit of worker satisfaction and motivation. Rumler and Brache posit that, the work system can be customized to offer satisfaction by observing Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. Other quality enhancing management standards, according to Dean (1997), can be based of the total quality movement (TQM), and the reengineering and business process redesign (BPR) (p.48). Information research Methods Analysis Advantages Disadvantages Interviews Are useful in determining the key aspects of candidates such as ability to communicate effectively Allows the interviewer to prompt further to obtain additional information Allows interviewer the opportunity to critically evaluate the applicant’s skills and knowledge Is the best tool for selecting best candidates from a pool of equally qualified candidates It provides room fro adjustments so that important information can be collected Allows for interaction, and the job candidates can seek additional information about the job offer. Interview evaluations are quite subjective Decisions arrived at seem to be based on the first impressions which may not be true Suffers bias, negative information carries more wait Researches have shown that interviews are not as reliable as tests Biodata It’s reliable: bases predictions into the future on historical personal information It’s legally dependable as it capture information which is exhaustive It’s less vulnerable to halo effect or biases Once developed it is less costly, and an be used to process large number of applicants. Presents legal conflicts as some information being sought could led to invasion of personal privacy Applicants may fake facts hence compromising acc uracy Developing a biodata is very time consuming and therefore costly Prolonged usage would reduce diversity in the organization human resource Questionnaires They are standardized thus offering more objective results than interviews can allow fast gathering of data useful in when the study sample is large Since they are standardized they do not allow additional details (closed questionnaires) The interviewer cannot prop further and in many cases the answers given are quite superficial The respondents may be reluctant to fill in the questionnaires and the interviewer may have little to motivate them.
